Go Bottomlandscape rake

I checked into a 6' landscape rake a tractor supply store. I have a 4100 hst tractor. Will this tractor handle this width rake or should I go for a 5'?

My 4100 handles a 5 ft blade with ease, I have not used a rake but I don't think it would require as much power to drag it around. I think it would do fine with a 6 ft rake. ....

Zigzag, I agree with Mark. My 4100 also handles a 5 foot, 225 Landpride with ease. It also handles a 675 lb mower without problem. I can't imagine a 6 foot rake being a problem. JonB ....

The 6' rake will work for you, it will still only pull so much before it lifts and releases and that depends on the weight of the blade. ....

my experience with a landscape rake is that it's primary function is to level and smooth dirt. That's why most posters refer to the weight of the unit, which factors into the rake's ability to level off the ground, since 3ph's don't provide any down-force.
If used on grass to remove leaves, branches, etc, mine digs up the sod.
I have an estate rake (brand name) that is has 6 pinwheel type rakes similar to hayrakes. It windrows the leaves and twigs; anything bigger than small branches tend to bind up the pinwheels. Of course you then have to do something with the windrows -- I take the "time-saver" route -- I mow over the windrows and chop up everything with a rear finish mower. It all dissipates in a couple weeks.

Zigzag, I've used a landscape rake with some success when raking fresh cut grass and weeds, roughly four feet in height. The rake helped gather the cuttings into really big piles. There are two limitations I've seen. The rake is useless for collecting dry grass/weeds. It will probably collect the dry stuff okay it it's sticking up. If the cuttings have settled down next to the ground, it will likely miss them. Second, it doesn't do near as good as raking by hand. It really only cleaned up the big stuff on I had on top. But I'll still use it for this next year. Best of luck. ....
